Market Participant Update, July 2026

In July 2026, the Austrian rail market saw several changes among rail carriers.

The Italian rail operator Rail Traction Company has received a new safety certificate from the ERA for Austria, Germany, and Italy. It is expected to operate services via the Brenner, the Tauern, and the Western Axis—services that had previously been handled with the assistance of its sister company, Lokomotion.

In mid-July, the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Mobility, and Infrastructure granted Silverstar Railways an operating license for freight and passenger transport in Austria.
