Schienen-Control firmly established in European and international networks of regulatory authorities. In order to perform its tasks effectively and efficiently, it works closely with numerous national and international institutions and contributes its technical expertise.
By continuously monitoring the rail transport market—both in Austria and in the European market— Schienen-Control promote fair competition and transparent market structures.
A key focus is on cooperation with other railway regulatory authorities in Europe. Of particular importance here is participation in the European Network of Railway Regulators (ENRRB), which is chaired by the European Commission. This forum facilitates the exchange of information on current developments in European legislation and regulatory experiences from the member states.
In addition, Rail Control is a founding member of the Independent Regulators' Group – Rail (IRG-Rail), which was established in The Hague in 2011 and now has 31 members from EU and non-EU countries. The aim of this association is to promote the exchange of information, develop common positions, and contribute to the harmonization of regulation in the European rail sector.
